Saturday, April 19, 2014 "Enhanced Jelly Roll Quilt"

Happy Birthday!  to my wonderful daughter, Charlotte!
This is a jelly roll quilt made from "Traditional Love" fabric from Connecting Threads.
The addition of the appliqued flowers was just for fun.

Thursday April 10, 2014 "Heart Log Cabin"

This quilt was made when I fell in love with a picture I found in a magazine.  Because of my love for just about any log cabin quilt, I decided to make it.  There were no instructions, so I just started making blocks like I always did.   We would lay them out, continually looking at the picture and figuring out which blocks needed to be all cream colored and which blocks needed to be all dark.  The majority were basic half and half.  One of my daughters, KayLynn, is a very talented artist.  She sees things of color quickly and she was a big help when we needed to see where things needed to be.  I really appreciated her help.  I don't remember exactly when I made this quilt.  It has been quite a few years ago, but I LOVE this quilt.  It is on my bed all year long as the quilt we sleep with.  It was backed with a flannel sheet and has always provided just the right amount of warmth that we need.

Monday April 7, 2014 "Nine Patch"

This little bear is why I have this colorful quilt.  My mother made one for herself out of an old quilt.  I love it and asked her if she would make one for me.  We didn't have any more old quilts, so I made yardage for my own bear.  I pieced the fabric and quilted it and then sent it to her to make a bear for me.  She carefully laid out the pattern pieces to show as much of the piecing as possible.  I was thrilled with the way it turned out and it is always on the bed in my guest room on one of my quilts.  The quilt is just a continuation of my project.  Just a simple nine patch placed on point.  Love the way it is so colorful and I just used what I had.

Friday April 4, 2014 "Fly Into Spring"

This quilt is called "Fly Into Spring" and was designed by Eleanor Burnes.  I found the pattern in the American Patchwork Quilting Magazine, April 2010 issue.  I just fell in love with it.  I used 30's reproduction fabrics from my stash.  The applique was fun.  I traced a template of the pumpkin seeds design on the borders but all the quilting in the middle of the quilt was all free hand.  I loved making this quilt!  It just made me happy.  I always try to experiment with something new or learn something new with every quilt.  This quilt was the first time I scalloped a border.  Enjoy!
