| I really enjoyed the book, The Runaway Quilt, by Jennifer Chiaverini. Because of this, I chose to make this, "Birds In The Air" quilt, by Eleanor Burns. What fun it was to go through my stash and come up with the different combinations of fabrics for the various blocks. |

| The lighter backgrounds in the center of the quilt depicts the signal used by the safe houses for the run away slaves, giving them direction for their escape journey. |

| I actually quilted this quilt from the back so I could get the birds quilted correctly. It was a very gratifying experience. |
